Inbound networking is when people reach out to you. Examples:

• Writing a social media post explicitly calling for outreach
• Writing a blog post about an idea important to you, and people reaching out because they like the way you think or your ideas
• Holding a talk at a conference

Outbound networking is when you reach out to other people

Each method attracts different people

Warm networking is when outreach occurs through friends who know you, or know them

Cold networking is when outreach occurs through public sources, such as email or twitter
